On October 5th the Font flowers were given by Maureen Dennis to remember with much love her grandmother, Mrs Lillian Flemings, who died on October 2nd 1990 - missed by all the family.
Our Harvest Festival on October 12th gave us a church decorated with your gifts of food and all the extra flowers. I would like to give a big "Thank You" to all of you who gave so generously to the Flower Fund to help with the cost of extra flowers. These flowers, together with your very generous gifts of "food goodies", enabled us to give tokens of care and friendship to a great number of people. The only flowers left in the church after the festival were those on the Altar given by Ann Corne (nee Driscoll) in memory of her grandfather, Jack Neal, who died on October 11th 1983 - they were his favourite flowers (Carnations).
On October 19th the Font flowers were given by Joyce Dolphin to remember with fondest lover her parents Elizabeth and Ralph Rutherford.
Alec and Pam Alborough gave the Font flowers on October 26th to mark the date of their Wedding Anniversary - so many happy memories. We were glad to see them when they came to meet us in church when they were up in London on a visit to friends - it's good to keep in touch!
Mary Humphreys gave the flowers on the Altar on November 2nd to remember with lover her dear husband Fred, who died on November 3rd 1989 - happy memories from the past.
November 9th is Remembrance Sunday and as usual the red carnations and poppies will help us with our memories on that day.
I end with a quote about trees in November
" Bare as a bone against the skies -
branches lean and stripped of leaves
like black lace against grey heavens -
beauty all around as they are braced
against the winter wind."
